I Have A Good Reason....

For not blogging lately. And here it is:

My hubby.

Really. It’s true. He has been a TOTAL computer hog these past few weeks.:) \Of course he HAS had a good reason, which I can now reveal to all of you.

A few weeks ago, my husband started audtioning to be the new lead singer of a band in San Diego. For most of you who know us, you also know that my hubby has been in bands for all of our married life (and many, many years before). Music has always been his passion and his ministry.

This past year my hubby felt that God asked him to step down from his current band, and he has been “band-less” for a little over twelve months.

It has been a difficult time for him as he has wondered if he would ever be in an active band again. Then, as he was perusing a website one night, he happened upon a post on the page of one of his all-time favorite drummers. It seemed that this particular drummer’s band was searching for a new singer and were holding open auditions.

My husband sent him some MP3 samples via e-mail, and so-started the wild ride that has been our past few weeks. The band sent my hubby some samples of their music that they have recorded for their new album. My hubby recorded his lyrics/vocal lines through a elaborate pedal and computer set-up that he rigged, then sent back his vocals recorded over their music (hence the reason that I haven’t had any long moments at the computer for blogging).

It has been so positive these past few weeks. My hubby has poured his heart and soul into this work, and the feedback from the band members was all good. They told him he was one of the top few guys they were still considering.

Then, last night, around 8:00 p.m. they called to tell him that they have found other people that they are “more interested” in working with. It was disappointing news, to say the least.

We prayed together when this opportunity presented itself, and we both believed that God gave us the “go ahead” to enter into this audition process whole-heartedly.

We don’t fully understand God’s purpose in all of this, although we are confident He has one. Being in this band would have been a dream-come-true for my hubby.

We do know this: "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." - Romans 8:28(NLT)

My hubby has handled all of this with a lot of maturity, but he is still dealing with feelings of dissapointment. Please pray for that...

Well, God so obviously is closing the door...not to make any less of Brians dream not being fulfilled with this particular band. I can't wait to find out what God has planned for him instead. When I see such a Godly couple seeking out God's will in such a humble way, there is no doubt that blessings are coming for sure!

ps...Brian is way to cute, young, and talented to sing with those old farty pants rockers...that's right I said it, OLD FARTY PANTS ROCKERS!!!
That'll teach them for not hiring Brian!!!

Hmmm. That kinda stuff does boggle the mind. Maybe God just wanted you guys to be open to the possibilities--but this particular possibility wasn't "it." Just practice!! We'll pray for bigger and better next time--and now he'll have done a trial run! :) I know God has amazing things in store for your family--but waiting stinks, huh? :)

I agree with Nicole...seems like this time is not the one...but what an awesome thing that he was one of the ones they were considering. And he got to take some time to stretch his musical wings again!!

You know my thoughts lately if it's meant to be than God will make it happen!

Love Ya!

Wow - praying he finds his niche soon...my neighbor has been heading up a new Christian band...they have ten songs finished and two more coming up for their first cd; about 20-30 in the works. I believe they were seeking a keyboardist though ~

Imagine you all are at a higher level from what your blog represents ~ besides, VA is FAR away from the west. :-)

May God bless you AWESOMELY for your faithful trust in HIM. :-)

I'm totally in agreement with Nicole here. God simply has something much bigger and better for Brian, and it'll be fun to see where the adventure leads. (Wouldn't it be so unbelievably awesome if it led to Virginia? Ha ha ha! Hey, it's absolutely *gorgeous* here, and we'd *love* to have both of you with us -- talent, sweetness, encouragement, serenity, fun, and limitless cuteness!)
